This piece is a close-up of an animal eye that I drew using pencil. The project assignment was to draw an animal eye through referencing a black and white picture. I had the internet, a range of HB pencils, blending tools, and an eraser at my disposal. I was very enthusiastic about this project because I had developed a love for drawing eyes and drawing with pencil when I was a child. I chose a husky eye because I have loved that breed of dog my whole life and they have such uniquely complex eyes. After finding an online image of a husky eye, I traced the key features on a printed out version of the image and rubbed the tracings onto a blank page. I then had to carefully determine the shade of each area of the eye. I began to fill in the outer dark spots with the same shade then worked my way into the eye. Replicating the inside of the eyeball was the hardest to master, as the gradients were very sensitive. By using the different tools available to me, techniques such as cross-hatching and blending and patience, I was able to create this final product.
